Supported operating systems

OSSEC should work on any POSIX compliant system (Linux, BSD, etc) with an ANSI C compiler.
The following systems are officially supported:

  • OpenBSD 3.5-4.3
  • GNU/Linux
    • Slackware 10.1-12
    • Ubuntu 5.04-8.10 (32 and 64 bits)
    • RedHat (old) 8.0 and 9.0
    • Red Hat EL 2-5
    • Suse ES 9,10
    • OpenSuse 9-11
    • Fedora Core 2-9
    • Debian 3.1, 4
  • FreeBSD 5-7
  • NetBSD 3, 4
  • Solaris 2.8, 2.9 (Sparc) and 10 (x86, Sparc)
  • AIX 5.2 ML-07
  • HP-UX 10, 11i v2
  • MacOSX 10
  • Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista and 2008 (agent only)
